Blood tests revealed thrombocytopenia (a low platelet count) associated with anemia, leading to the need for blood transfusions. Despite being alert and spending the day seated in an armchair, the Pope is reportedly more uncomfortable than the previous day, and his prognosis remains guarded.

On February 17, 2025, Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900, was arriving from Minneapolis when it flipped upside down upon landing, resulting in injuries to 18 of the 80 individuals on board. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, and all passengers and crew were evacuated safely.
